The Inner and Outer Planets of our Solar System

I can describe the characteristics of the inner and outer planets.  GLE # 43

Using the websites below, gather information about two planets.  One inner planet and one outer planet.  I will assign you the planets that you gather information on.

You ONLY have today to complete this assignment.

You will take the information that you gather from the website and complete the following:

1. Fold your paper in half.
2.  On either side of the paper, write the name of each planet.
3.  Draw a picture of the planet.  Make sure that your picture is accurate.  (For example, Mars is red.  If you draw and color it green, you will lose points.)
4. Underneath the picture of the planet answer 5-11 in complete sentences.
5.  What is the planet made of?
6.  How long does it take this planet to orbit the sun? (example: It takes the earth 365 days to orbit the sun)
7.  How long is one day on this planet? (example: One day on Earth is 24 hours)
8.  What planet is it from the sun?  (example:  Earth is the third planet from the sun)
9.  How many moons does this planet have?
10.  Is this planet an inner or outer planet?
11.  List three interesting facts about this planet.

Assignments:
Group 1: Mercury and Jupiter
Group 2: Venus and Saturn
Group 3: Mars and Neptune
Group 4: Mercury and Uranus
Group 5: Earth and Jupiter

**This is one of the last assignments that will be graded before report cards come out.  Please make sure that you are doing your very best work and following ALL of the directions.

In your Science Textbook, you can use pages 438-441 NEW

Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

1.  Show your knowledge and illustrate each step in both photosynthesis and respiration.

2.  Make sure you identify the exchange of gases that occurs during photosynthesis and respiration.

3.  Explain the relationship between the two processes.

4.  Explain why plants would not be able to exist without the ability to perform photosynthesis and respiration.

5.  If plants could exist on Earth without animals; could animals exist on Earth without plants?

6.  What gas exchange takes place between plants and animals?

You can display your information using any of the following ideas:
A Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting photosynthesis and cellular respiration
An Advertisement telling about photosynthesis and cellular respiration
A brochure
A foldable
A storybook
A poster

I also need a paper numbered 1-5 answering all of the information above.

**Make sure you include all of the information listed above in numbers 1-5 in both your group project and your individual paper**

Microbes Poster Activity

Directions: You are to choose a disease you would like to research from the list below. You will then log in to trackstar and research that disease. Once you have gathered all of your information, you will use it to create a poster. The following is required on the poster:

·         Name of the disease (Some illnesses/diseases have several different names, include all of them)
·         Define the disease. Explain what the disease does to a person’s body.
o   Be sure to include all major side effects of the disease
·         How a person can come down with the disease (Communicable or non-communicable)
·         How can a doctor diagnose this disease? (Are there tests that can be ran or just based on the symptoms?)
·         The treatment/medicine for the disease (If there is not a cure, explain what a person has to do in order to live with the disease)
·         Is this disease/illness preventable? If so, how? (Ex: Healthy living, cleaning/washing hands, vaccination, etc..)
·         Include at least 3 more facts you have found about the disease that you find interesting.

Diseases to choose from:
Group 1.     Chicken Pox
Group 2.    Whooping Cough
 Group 3.    Strep Throat
 Group 4.    Flu
Group 5.    Common Cold

How to research:
·         Track # for Websites: 452967
·         Track # for Videos: 452968
